Socialcast Desktop Walkthrough

In this quick walkthrough we're going show you how login to and use the TestDrive Socialcast instance on your desktop.

  • In order to perform the full end-to-end demo make sure you have the following:

    • A valid account in the VMware TestDrive environment, signup here if you do not already have an account. 


    To get started open your favorite web browser and navigate to the TestDrive user portal at Click Login and sign in with your TestDrive username and password.

    You'll be brought to the TestDrive dashboard. Next, click Launchers at the top of the page.

    Click Workspace ONE to launch into the Workspace ONE login page.

    Sign into Workspace ONE using your Testdrive username and password. Note the domain is not required.

    Next, click the Socialcast icon to be SSO'd into the service.

    If this is your first time accessing Socialcast, you'll need to complete your account info. Confirm your name is correct and select Continue at the bottom.

    Next, choose and colleagues you'd like to follow and select Continue at the bottom.

    Last, choose any groups you would like follow and select I'm finished.

    You'll be brought to the Socialcast homepage. You can choose to complete the setup of your account by using the Getting Started options on the top right including adding a photo, following users, joining groups and accessing Socialcast on mobile devices.

    Once you have followed a few users and groups you'll have some test data to demo. 

    You can create groups by clicking the plus sign next to Public Spaces or Private Spaces. When adding a group you can choose to upload a photo, invite members, and choose if you would like the group to have a Chat feed, Post feed or both.

    We created a group called Team Outings. You'll see we have Chat and Post at the top of our group. We can send a chat on the page which supports markdowns, links, and ability to bold, italicize, or link when text is highlighted.

    You are also able to edit or delete chats after you have sent them by hovering over and selecting the gear icon.

    Alternatively, you can view the Post section of a group. This allows users to comment directly on a topic they are interested in or scroll down to read additional topics. Depending on your team's collaboration style users can use the Chat or Post feeds.

    Additionally, you can see by selecting Integrations in any group the various resources that can be tied to your group.

    The spaces list order is arranged by notifications. You'll see a yellow notification for any chats and blue notification for all other activities. 

    Additionally you can filter your spaces by using the search filter at the top to find exactly which space you are looking for.

    Once you have finished the initial configuration on your desktop, you will be able to use Socialcast on iOS or Android as well.
