iOS - VMware Boxer Unmanaged Walkthrough

In this quick walkthrough we're going show you how to login to VMware Boxer on an unmanaged iOS device without Workspace ONE or MDM.

Walkthrough Summary

  • Download VMware Boxer on your unmanaged device
  • Authenticate using your Testdrive email address and credentials
  • View your email, contacts, and calendar on your unmanaged device
  • In order to complete this demo please make sure you have the following:

    • An iOS device
    • A valid account in the VMware TestDrive environment, signup here if you don't (Instructions here)
    • Activated the AirWatch service from the My Services tab in the VMware Testdrive Demo Portal. (Instructions here)
    • Activated Office 365 from the My Services tab in the VMware Testdrive Demo Portal (instructions here)
    • Network access from your device and TCP port 443 enabled on your network

    Walkthrough

    First, navigate to the app store on your unmanaged, unenrolled iOS device. Download VMware Boxer to your device.

    Once VMware Boxer is installed, launch the app.  You'll be asked to enter your email address.  Here we will enter our Testdrive modified email address. If you are unsure of your Testdrive email you can view it by logging  portal.vmtestdrive.com. Once logged in select "My Services" in red and then select the "i" button next to VMware AirWatch. Enter this email into Boxer and select "Get Started".

    Next, you'll be asked for your username and password. Enter your TestDrive username and password (without the domain) and select Login.

    Next, you'll need to authenticate with your Office 365 Testdrive email address. Enter your Testdrive password and click "Get Started".

    Now your device will be configured with your email, contacts, and calendar invites on your unmanaged device. If you do not have any emails in your inbox, best practice is to send yourself emails from another address.
