Launching Horizon Remote Apps from Workspace ONE (VMware Identity Manager)
In this quick walkthrough we're going show you how to launch Microsoft Word as a Horizon Remote Application from Workspace ONE (VMware Identity Manager) by completing the following steps:
In order to perform the full end-to-end demo make sure you have the following:
- A valid account in the VMware TestDrive environment, signup here if you don't
- Network access from your device and TCP ports 80, 443 and 7443 enabled
- An Horizon Client installed on your machine.
- Must be logged in to the VMware Identity Manager and have added the Horizon Remote Application icon for Microsoft Word for your region to your workspace from "App Center"

Now that you have logged into Workspace ONE (VMware Identity Manager) and added to your workspace the icon for Microsoft Word Horizon Remote Application for your region. You will want to find the icon for "AMER-Word 2013" or "EMEA-Word 2013" or "APAC-Word 2013" depending on your region and click on it.
This will bring up the prompt asking you to open with the Horizon Client. Click on "Open Horizon Client"
Now the Horizon client will launch and SSO you into the application.
Once Microsoft Word has loaded, you may use it just as you normally would a natively installed version of Microsoft Word. Click on "Blank document" to start working in Word.
You may also go to the top menu bar and open the "About Microsoft Word", which will load a popup highlighting that this is running in the Horizon Client and give the Horizon Client version numbers.
And as easy as that you've launched Microsoft Word as a published Horizon Remote Application from Workspace ONE (VMware Identity Manager).
