    Video Overview

    To log into the AirWatch Management Console, open a web browser and load the URL: https://airwatch.vmtestdrive.com or you may also launch this from the VMware Testdrive Demo Portal side bar, there is a link for "AW Admin Console"

    airwatch.vmtestdrive.com

    Once the webpage has loaded, put in your credentials for the demo environment below. For the username use the format: "vmwdemo\username" replacing the username with your own username. Then in the password box fill in your password for the demo environment. Click Login once you have typed in your credentials to continue.

    Username: vmwdemo\{TestdriveUsername}
    Password: {TestdrivePassword}

    If this is your first log in into the AirWatch Administrative Console, you may be prompted to accept the Terms of Use. Read through the terms and then click "Accept" to continue.

    As the second step in your first login setup, you will be prompted to create a Security Pin. This Security Pin is your unique pin that you can use for authorizing certain restricted actions or to confirm that you would like to execute certain actions from the administrative console. For example, when enterprise wiping a device, you will be prompted for your security pin to ensure that you want to proceed with that action.

    Now you will be brought for the main dashboard for your organization. Here you will see a high level summary of your entire device fleet at a glance including enrolled devices, types of ownership for those devices, and activity on when those devices last checked in with the AirWatch environment. To deep dive into a device that has recently checked in, click on the green box underneath "Last Seen Overview".

    Note: If you don't see any devices on the device dashboard this is becuase none have been enrolled for your organization yet. You'll only see devices enrolled into Testdrive by others from your organization. For example, VMware employees will see all over VMware employees devices but no other organizations such as partners or prospects. Partners and prospects will only see devices from their own organizations as well.

    You'll notice by selecting the down arrow next to your account name in the top right that World Wide Enterprises is just one of your administrator roles with the AirWatch admin console. You can choose the drop down under account role to change to another role at any time.

    Roles Explained:

    • Device Administrator at Regional Health Systems: Healthcare Demos
    • Device Administrator at Retail Holding Company: Retail Demos
    • Device Administrator at World Wide Enterprises: General (Enterprise) Demos
    • Device Administrator at Finance - Admin: Finance Demos
    • AirWatch Administrator at Sandbox Admin {TestdriveUsername}: This role is your own personal sandbox where you have full access to all admin rights and can test any AirWatch features you'd like by setting them up in the console and enrolling your devices to see the results.
    • Tier 1 - Help Desk at Executives & Tier 2 - Help Desk at Professional Services: This role is used to show AirWatch's ability to create fully custom roles at different organization groups depending on the needs of your organization. For example, the Tier 1 help desk admin can view apps, devices, content, etc but if you switch over to the Tier 2 help desk role the options are much more locked down.

    Lets stay with our World Wide Enterprises role and choose "Devices seen in last 8 hours" from the device dashboard. This has brought us to a list view showing all the devices that have recently checked in the last 8 hours. The device list view can be customized using custom layouts as well as robust filters including platform, os version, compliance status and more to allow administrators to easily narrow down the devices they are looking for. If we click on the device, we will able to go into the specific menus and available options we have to manage this device.

    The first page for this device is the summary tab, here you can see the overall summary of information regarding the device. For example some of the information you have at a glance is if this device is in compliance or what serial number it has. You can also see quickly if this device is in compliance.

    Another available tab is the Profiles tab, that shows all the policies and configurations that have been pushed down to your device. You may click on the profile name to further load information on that specific profile.

    If we click on the Apps tab, you will see a listing of all the applications installed on the device, depending on the device ownership, you will have different options available for the different applications. Here you see since this is a corporate owned enrolled device, that we can view all of the iOS applications on the device, even applications that the user has downloaded from the iOS App Store vs what has been pushed down to the device from the AirWatch App Catalog.

    And now you have seen a few of the screens available in the AirWatch Management Console for an enrolled device. Feel free to navigate and explore the administrative console for additional information and options available to you.
